The generator one-way pulley consists of an outer ring that matches the cross-sectional shape of the V-ribbed belt, a clutch unit consisting of a stamped inner ring, an outer ring and a double needle bearing, a bushing and two sealing rings. In order to prevent the influence of water and other dirt, a protective cover is attached to the outer end surface.

The function is to decouple the alternator from the engine front attachment belt drive train because the alternator has the highest rotational moment of inertia in the engine front attachment belt drive train. This means that the generator one-way pulley is a V-ribbed belt that can only drive the alternator in one direction.

Unlike the traditional rigid pulley, the generator one-way pulley OAP only allows the pulley to rotate in one direction, which reduces the vibration of the engine accessory transmission system, which can significantly extend the service life of each accessory system component. In many motor systems, as well as in modern engines with smaller cars, rigid pulleys are not effective in reducing the irregular vibrations of the accessory system. Irregular vibrations can damage the accessory system and even cause the engine to be completely scrapped. The generator one-way pulley minimizes such vibrations, which greatly reduces the friction of the components of the belt and other accessory systems, resulting in a significant increase in service life.
